Revive from Hiatus

Monday, August 03, 2020 Syahirah Skylar 7 Comments

Hello there readers!

Wow! it feels so great to be able to say that again!  It has been exactly 4 years since I last posted.  That's a pretty long hiatus, right?  Honestly, I never actually meant to be gone for this long.  At the time, I was just starting my degree and it was kinda stepping into a new milestone.  Going through a transition and being in a whole new environment.  It took a while for me to digest what was happening especially at the fact that I only had 11 days of a break after finishing my foundation before signing up and proceed into the degree course.  So it was a little overwhelming at first and I wanted to take some time off from blogging to give myself some time to get used to the new degree life.  I was thinking to just let it be for around 3 months because that's how long my semester goes for.  3 months went by and I was consumed with other stuff and it kept on prolong till now.  There were days I actually did come back on here and try to write a post but it ends up just staying in the draft because I was not satisfied with what I wrote. Anyway, I think it is time that I end this hiatus now and bring this blog back to life.

This blog means a lot to me to let go so here I am revived from the hiatus.  In this post, I would like to talk about the things I will be posting on this blog but first, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has visited this blog and took the time to read my posts and also left some comments. I truly appreciate getting all the responses and interacting with you guys.  I hope it is something that we can continue to do and that we can strengthen our bond in this blogging community. So, without further ado. Here are the things that you can expect from this blog and what the upcoming posts would be like.

1. Storytelling

I feel like one of my strengths in writing is storytelling and I admit, I definitely do enjoy telling stories of what happened in my life and share my experiences.  I feel like there's a lot of things for us to learn from experiences and there is a lot for us to reflect on.  Whether it is from our own experiences or someone else's.  Perhaps, there is something beneficial that you might find in my stories, and reading it also allows you to get to know a little bit more about me as well.  So you can expect more posts like Reconnect with an old friend, My Munchkins, and Meeting 5 Seconds of Summer

2. Life

Honestly, I am not exactly sure what is the right name for this category because it is indeed a pretty broad category and it may be overlapping with the Storytelling category.  Basically, this category is kinda divided into two. The first is a simple life update like the post Life Update: Where Have I been. It is like a little summary of the current situation and what I have been up to recently. The second is more of a specific topic that is inspired by life experience. Something that is close and personal to me as for example the post Being an Only Child. I know the post may seem like storytelling because it is based on my experiences but the structure is different. It has a specific topic and I just use my experiences as an example for the content.

3. Poems

I am still into poetry and I like to express myself and my feelings into words. I still find it therapeutic and I enjoy the creative process of it.  I had posted two poems on this blog before which was Be Alright and Caught up in a DreamI had received pretty good responses from you guys on those two poems. It really means a lot to me seeing you guys liking my work. I truly appreciate it and it kinda boosts my confidence and self-esteem in writing.  So I would like to share more of my poems here but I am not sure how often that would be. It all depends on the inspiration I get. The more inspiration I get, the more poems I end up writing.

4. Book Reviews

One of my hobbies is reading. I am not a bookworm or an avid reader but I definitely love to read. I may not constantly have a book with me or continuously read a bunch of books but when I do find a good book I definitely get hook on it. I am the kind of person who likes to take time when reading because I really like to indulge myself in the story.  I also get so attached to the characters and end up feeling so emotional when I finished the book. I really want to get into reading more so you can expect more book reviews like I did with To All the Boys I've Loved Before & P.S. I Still Love You.

5. Travel

One of my biggest passion is traveling. I am consumed with wanderlust and always crave for a getaway.  I love traveling a lot and have always been dreaming of traveling the world.  My soul seems to be at peace whenever I'm exploring and traveling.  I am so grateful for the opportunity that has given to me and to be fortunate enough to be able to travel abroad to different countries.  As of today, I have traveled to 13 countries and hopefully, I get to visit more in the future when the world is safe again and the COVID-19 is gone. I love traveling a lot because you can learn a lot from your traveling experiences like the culture and the history of the places and traveling also widen your perspectives as you see how life goes on in other places. In addition to that, another reason why I love traveling is seeing the beautiful nature and landscape out there. New Zealand is one of my favorite countries that I've been to. The landscape, the mountains, and the lakes there are just simply remarkable. I have not posted about traveling on this blog before and it is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time now but just haven't really organized and make time to work on the travelog.  So before my memories start to fade on the details of my travel... I would like to document and share my travel experiences here with you guys.

6. Movies and TV Shows

I have love movies and tv shows ever since I was a kid. I watch a lot of TVs and I also kinda conquer the VCD player back then and keep on putting on the movies that I like. It was my source of entertainment. Nowadays, I mostly just stream movies and shows online or watch movies at the cinema once in a while. Though I haven't been watching tv shows much in my high school years cuz it was hectic back then but now I do watch a few and when I do get hook on the show I became really indulge and passionate about it. So, I decided it would be great if I talk about it here. Just simply expressing myself about it and do a bit of commentary. Who knows, you might end up finding a great movie and show that you want to check out.

7. Music

Other than movies and shows, I absolutely love music. Music is my company when I'm driving, studying, drawing, reading, or when I'm just simply chilling in my room. Music can create an ambiance and it can also help in soothing your emotions or feelings and relax your mind. I mostly listen to a lot of pop but I love exploring and discovering new artists or different genres of music. So I am a fan of a lot of big well-known artists or bands in the pop industry but also have a mixture of some underrated artists that I discover on Spotify or through ads on Instagram. Sometimes I do find myself listening to some good old songs and artists from the 80s or 90s. It brings such a nice vibe and I even enjoy listening to some classic rock from time to time. So I decided to share the music and songs that I love on here. The post would be like a music playlist post where I share some of the songs that I'm currently listening to. Another post would be a bit like an album commentary or maybe just me making a post talking about a specific artist that I like. In addition to that, I may be posting about specific songs that I love or songs that resonate with my emotions. Basically, talking about my perspective on the song or how it impacts me in a way because music is something that you can be connected with deeply. I guess I just wanted to share a bit and express how some songs connected with me on a deeper level.

8. Other

I'm not the kind who likes to limit myself when it comes to writing or anything to do with self-expression and creativity. So there will be other things that I might like to post on this blog that is different from all the other categories that I have mentioned above. It all comes to what inspires me. Maybe a little bit about mental health and things that I find really interesting in psychology. I care about mental health and it is indeed a serious topic but unfortunately, not everyone truly understands it and there is a lot of stigmas around causing those who are struggling with mental health and wellbeing to be misunderstood by people. Other than that, I might also write a little bit about a healthy lifestyle. I am trying to motivate myself into implementing a healthy lifestyle again. So writing about it might motivate me more into doing it. There may be some topics or issues that have been going on in this world that I like to touch on and speak my words on it. I feel like this blogging platform can also be a place where we can all together educate ourselves. Expanding our minds and broaden our perspectives. Who knows what other things that will inspire me to write about. Just have to wait and see!

PS. These are just the things that I come up with right now. Is there anything you would like me to write about or things that you are interested in reading about? I always welcome new ideas and constructive feedback from you guys. Let me know down below...would love to hear it from you :)
